a poem written two days post diagnosis.
There is so much that we have learned since getting Gemma’s diagnosis in late March. I could change a lot about this poem, but I decided to leave it alone and remember my thoughts and feelings as they were. When the wounds were still fresh, the anger was still seething, and the depths of the unknown were still just as deep, but now known by name. A name that instantly shattered our world as we knew it.
